Tallahassee Orthopedic Clinic

Position Purpose:

Tallahassee Orthopedic Clinic is seeking a student who is interested and willing to work hard and collaboratively with physician(s) to build a portfolio of experience to support medical research services. The intern will play a pivotal role in strategic planning and implementation of special research projects.

 

The Tallahassee Orthopedic Clinic desires that this intern bring back with them some research experience. A candidate might be someone with an undergraduate degree in the Sciences that is no seeking their Masters or PHD. This internship experience will give the intern valuable, real-world experience, as well as hands-on experience in various aspects of medical research. The objective of this opportunity is for medical, nursing, biology or chemistry students considering a career in research to bring aboard their experiences on basic, clinical or translational research.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with physician to support the research functions that bring high quality reports deliverable, presentations, and other milestones to fruition
  • Perform literature search
  • Assist in preparing and participating in conference presentations
  • Maintain accurate records of studies
  • Support Executive Management
  • Coordinate special projects as assigned
  • Administrative support including copying, faxing, file organization, ordering supplies, etc.
  • Assist with other relevant duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

Excellent oral and written communication skills necessary, ability to solve problems and work efficiently with minimal daily supervision, motivated and a self starter, must be proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Must be comfortable creating spreadsheets and designing PowerPoint presentations. General knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology with the ability to data mine patient records.

 

Standards:

Requires a PHD or M.S. in Biology, Chemistry, or major interest in Research.

Experience (2-3 years) in the health industry preferred.

Understands and sympathizes with the mission and goals of the company.

High level of discretion required when dealing with confidential matters.

 

Compensation:

Internship is paid and compensation is dependent on experience and skills.

There is no guarantee of employment following the internship; however, a deserving intern can receive a letter of performance for his/her permanent record in addition to receiving an invaluable experience.

 

Work Schedule:

Flexible weekday hours between, 7:30am-5:00pm

Ideally 10-15 hours per week

Seeking an intern immediately for Winter, Summer and possibly Fall- 2009
